Just two days after a violent road rage case in Pune, an intoxicated youth was caught on camera assaulting an on-duty traffic police officer in Hadapsar area.
The incident, reported on Saturday (January 11) evening, led to the youth's detention by Hadapsar Police.
The incident occurred near Magarpatta in Raskar Chowk, where the Hadapsar Traffic Division was managing traffic and taking action against drivers for driving on the wrong side.
According to a bystander's account, the accused was hitting another person, and when the cop intervened, he started assaulting him. The video of the assault went viral on social media, and the youth was detained and booked later that night.
On Thursday, a dispute over traffic turned violent when a family was beaten by a duo, father and son, for honking the horn while in traffic congestion on Mundhwa-Koregaon road in Pune. The incident occurred near Carnival hotel, Mundhwa.
The accused have been identified as Raju Gaikwad and his son Shubham Gaikwad.
According to the police, the victim Rajesh Waghchaure was going to his home from Mundhwa to Koregaon Park with his family in the car. Around 9 pm, while going home, Waghchaure got stuck in the traffic jam on Mundhwa-Koregaon Park road. Due to the severe traffic jam, Waghchaure honked, seeking some space to go.
