Filmmaker Paul Feig has set the record straight about his upcoming project, ' A Simple Favor 2 ,' amid swirling rumors that the sequel has been shelved due to legal tensions involving Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni .

Speculation had been circulating online claiming that the movie’s release was indefinitely delayed by Amazon , allegedly due to Lively’s refusal to promote the film amid her ongoing legal battle with Baldoni. Further, the reports suggested that growing friction between the two lead stars had contributed to the alleged delay.

However, Feig took to his social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to dispel the rumors. Responding to a post suggesting the movie had been shelved, Feig firmly stated, “This is complete nonsense. The film is finished and will be released soon. Don’t trust everything you read on social media these days.”

The director has been vocal about his support for Lively throughout her legal struggles. In an earlier tweet, he praised the actress for her exceptional professionalism and talent, noting that he has had the privilege of working with her on two films. Feig called her “one of the most professional, creative, collaborative, talented, and kind people” he has ever worked with.

Addressing the alleged smear campaign targeting Lively, Feig expressed his dismay, stating, “It’s terrible that she’s being subjected to this. She doesn’t deserve it.”

Despite the rumors and controversies, ‘A Simple Favor 2’ remains on track for release, with Feig reassuring fans that they will soon get to experience the much-anticipated sequel. The original film, starring Lively and Anna Kendrick, was a darkly comedic thriller that received critical acclaim, and expectations for the follow-up remain high.
