January 13, Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India]: After Mumbai City FC (MCFC) lost to Jamshedpur FC (JFC) 0–3 at the Mumbai Football Arena on Sunday in the Indian Super League (ISL), head coach Petr Kratky expressed his unhappiness. According to the league’s official website.
The first half ended in a goalless tie, but the visitors put on a strong show in the second half, scoring three goals via Javi Hernandez, Jordan Murray, and Mohammed Sanan K. That gave the Men of Steel their second ISL league victory against the Islanders.
Vikram Partap Singh, Lallianzuala Chhangte, Brandon Fernandes, and other players gave Kratky’s team a few opportunities, but Albino Gomes’s tenacious Jamshedpur FC defense held firm to handle it.
After squandering the chance to secure three vital points, the head coach of Mumbai City FC expressed his displeasure at individual errors. While acknowledging the challenges the other squad presented, Kratky also emphasized his teammates’ incapacity to handle stressful conditions.
“There were several crosses and balls coming into our section of the box throughout the first half. I believe we handled things rather well because we were ready for it, but the strategy remains the same for Jamshedpur FC to get off to a great start. Since the first minute, they have, in my opinion, wasted time on throw-ins and shown a great deal of unsportsmanship, as seen by the laying down, getting up, and running I saw on the field today. According to ISL, he clarified at the post-game news conference that “this is a part of football, but ultimately, this was not the reason why we lost.”
“We lost today because of individual errors and playing under duress. Individual mistakes, football basics, and the first touch. In order to compete with the top teams in India, we must once again put in more effort and improve our players, since we are now not a cohesive unit,” Kratky said.
Additionally, the Czech-Australian coach seemed concerned about the Islanders’ recent performance as a whole and their strategy while facing top-six clubs.
“We struggle every time we play against teams ranked in the top four or five. We gained several points after playing teams that are at the bottom of the standings. We are not where we want to be, if you can see a little bit of the level from outside,” Kratky said.
“Something has to change. We must improve and put in more effort,” he said.
On January 16, the Islanders (MCFC) will travel to New Delhi to play Punjab FC. Kratky pushed his team to put in a lot of effort in order to go back to winning ways, but he expected another difficult matchup with the Shers.
“Just take a look at everyone of us on the field and keep going. We have four days to go to Delhi to face Punjab FC. Once again, a really challenging game. They transition very well. How we fight, how we regroup,” he said, according to ISL.
“But once again, we won’t win these games based just on football. We are not going to win this game for the sake of playing football. We must fight. We must begin with the difficulties. We must act more forcefully. That’s the way we should go about it,” Kratky said.
