The 2025 Mahakumbh Commences Today: Monday, the auspicious Brahma Muhurat, marked the start of the eagerly awaited Mahakumbh. This holy occasion begins with the Poush Purnima bathing celebration. Brimming with excitement, devotees started their ceremonial bathing at midnight at the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the unseen Saraswati at several ghats.

An exceptional combination with the Amrit Snan celebration on Makar Sankranti is scheduled for Tuesday. The devotees’ excitement has increased as a result of the two bathing festivals being combined. Pilgrims were coming in droves in spite of the cold and rain. The neighborhood is alive with the sound of Vedic chants and talks, and the saints’ camps are bustling. The expo has stringent security measures in place.

The saints and devotees swimming at the 44 ghats scattered over 12 kilometers of the fair area will be showered with flower petals from helicopters on Poush Purnima and Makar Sankranti.

On Prayagraj’s roadways, a steady flow of cars and people could be seen starting Sunday morning. People momentarily sought cover due to the afternoon rain, but as soon as it stopped, they returned to driving, which resulted in traffic bottlenecks everywhere.

Some bridges in the Mahakumbh region have traffic restrictions due to the crowd strain. Rehearsal for the preparations in the 4,000-hectare Mahakumbh extension was finished, and the traffic control plan was temporarily updated.

Nearly 40 crore devotees and visitors from all across the nation and outside are anticipated to attend the Mahakumbh, according to the state administration. It is estimated that the whole business might reach up to four trillion rupees, and the average spending per individual could rise to 10,000 rupees.

Massive Security and Infrastructure Plans for the Maha Kumbh Mela in 2025

Amount allotted for development in the Maha Kumbh Mela region: Rs 7,000 crore

In the district and city, Rs 26,000 crore was spent on roads, bridges, power, and water supplies.

It is anticipated that 40 crore devotees would attend the Maha Kumbh in 2025.

Approximately 4,000 hectares are covered by the Maha Kumbh Mela.

There are 25 sectors in the whole Mela region, and 30 pontoon bridges have been built.

This time, 3,000 special trains and an 8,000-bus fleet will be in service.

For security, 100,000 members of the police, PAC, and paramilitary forces will be sent in.

There are already 20 makeshift police stations, 68 police posts, and 82 fire stations.

112 parking spaces that can accommodate 7 lakh cars have been set up.

2,750 CCTV cameras will be used to monitor the Mela, with assistance from two command centers.

– 120 temporary power substations are in situ, and 1,600 km of electrical cables have been installed.
