Napoli head coach Antonio Conte is but says he holds no resentment over the player's recent transfer request. Linked with , the Georgian is expected to join PSG.

Only forward Rafael Leao, with 21, has provided more assists in Serie A than Kvaratskhelia since he moved to Italy, and only Inter's Federico Dimarco (151) has created more chances than the 23-year-old's tally of 145. But while Napoli won the title with Kvaratskhelia, he is ready for a new challenge and wants to move on.

"It's a disappointment for me, not for the player or the club," Conte told DAZN. "In six months I failed to change the situation. I believe a coach should help a club to make decisions and advise on what players to sign.

"When I realize that I was unable to make a difference here, that is my disappointment. I take nothing from Khvicha, he's a good lad, but everyone has to decide their own destiny, just as the club has to make its decisions."

A few days earlier, Conte had confirmed: "He asked the club to be sold without mincing his words. This is what was said to me, the player has confirmed his decision to me.

"Personally, I feel very disappointed. I spent six months trying to make Kvara feel at the center of the project, working with him, showing him that we could do something great and also working with the club for six months on the renewal.

"From my point of view, it’s a great disappointment. Today I have to take a step back. I can’t keep those who want to leave tied up in chains. I did that in the summer [when Kvaratskhelia wanted to leave] and had six months to convince all the parties to find a solution."

Liverpool.com says: Kvaratskhelia is a brilliant player and if the Reds could snap him up for the price tag of just $82m (£67m/€80m), that would be a bargain in the current market. His wages are not huge either. PSG is the favorite but Liverpool is right to admire him. At full tilt, Kvaratskhelia is one of the best in the world in his position, with more levels to be unlocked.
