During an episode of popular television show Would I Lie To You, which aired on January 10, shared a humorous yet awkward anecdote about her proposal to her now-husband, Joe Swash, that took place in 2020.
The proposal was characterised by a sweet gesture that unfortunately led to some confusion, almost causing a rift between the couple at a pivotal moment.
On the program, which features various celebrities revealing unusual facts and embarrassing personal stories for the opposing team to evaluate, Stacey recounted her experience to Rob Brydon, the show's host.
With a light-hearted tone, she admitted, "I nearly broke up with my husband while he was trying to propose to me." This surprising statement elicited a chuckle from the audience and Rob, who humorously reminded everyone, "We all know you are married to the mighty Joe Swash," referring to the popular presenter and actor.
Stacey elaborated on the context of the proposal, explaining that it occurred on Christmas Eve during the challenging lockdown.
She painted a vivid picture of their circumstances: "It was that special time of year, but we were all confined to our homes due to the restrictions. Every day, we would take a long walk through the nearby woods to escape the daily grind and find a bit of normalcy."
Rob laughed: "Steady now, this is not Loose Women."
Stacey shared: "This one Christmas Eve day while I was in the thick of being really busy. He wanted to go for a wood walk, and I asked if this could wait.
'It's Christmas Eve, but anyway, we went on a walk, and all these flowers were laid out. So I said, 'I think someone has passed'. He said, 'Let's go and have a look'.
"I said, 'What the hell is wrong with you? I'm not walking through that'. I said, 'I don't know if I can be with a person like you who gets off on someone else's misfortune.
"I was expecting a shrine, but Joe had put the flowers out to propose to me," she laughed.
The story is actually true with Stacey previously discussing the internet while appearing on Loose Women.
Sharing a picture on New Year's Day 2021, Stacey wrote: "My fiancé... It just doesn't get old. My first picture with my future husband - (sounds so weird) - just wanted to come on here and say, thank you so much for all of your lovely messages and kindness. It means the world." Stacey captioned the smiling photo, which showed the happy couple with their arms around each other.
