Following his abysmal batting displays in the 3-1 Test series defeat against Australia, Rohit Sharma joined Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy net session on Tuesday morning and was seen batting alongside Ajinkya Rahane.

Rohit, who only managed to score a total of 31 runs in the 3 Tests he played in the Border-Gavaskar series, was a part of the meeting which was held on Sunday to review the team’s performance. Alongside Rohit, head coach Gautam Gambhir and new BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia also were a part of the meeting.

Earlier, PTI had reported that Rohit had approached head coach Omkar Salavi and inquired about when were Mumbai going to train for their next match in Ranji Trophy.

Mumbai will play Jammu and Kashmir at the MCA-BKC ground when the Ranji Trophy resumes on January 23, and the match holds significance as far as advancing to the knockouts is concerned.

The 37-year-old participated in Mumbai’s morning practice session that was held at the Wankhede Stadium. There are chances that Rohit can be seen featuring for Mumbai in their upcoming fixture in the Ranji Trophy.

Rohit last played domestic cricket back in 2016, so if he does make a return to the circuit now, then he will do so after an almost 9-year long hiatus.
