Water is very important for all our lives and questions often arise about its purity. Be it summer or winter, the need for water remains in every season. To keep the body healthy, it is not only necessary to drink enough water, but it is also very important to take care of the purity of water. However, there are many myths and misconceptions about the purity of water, it is very important to know at what level drinking water is beneficial for health and how much water should we consume. In this article, we will discuss in detail about the purity of water, the importance of TDS and the body's need for water.

Importance of RO water and TDS

In today's time, RO (Reverse Osmosis) water filters are installed in every home. Water is purified with this technique, but is this pure water right for our body? The purity of water is measured in the form of TDS (Total Dissolved Solids), which tells how much amount of minerals and other elements are dissolved in the water.

The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) have set some guidelines on this subject. If the amount of TDS in one liter of water is less than 500 mg, then that water is considered safe to drink. If the amount of TDS is less than 250 mg, then there may be a lack of minerals in the water, due to which the body does not get the necessary nutrients. If the TDS is more than 900 mg, then the water is not considered fit for drinking.

In simple words, the level of TDS in water should be between 300 to 600 mg so that it is safe and healthy to drink. If the TDS of water is less than 100, then there may be a lack of minerals in it, due to which the taste of water can also be affected and it can also have a negative effect on health.

Purity of water: 350 TDS is ideal
The ideal purity for the body is that in which the water is neither too pure nor lacks minerals. Experts say that the TDS level of RO water should be around 350. This keeps the essential minerals in the water and the taste of the water also remains good. Drinking too much pure water can cause deficiency of essential minerals in the body, which can later cause health problems.

How much water does the body need?
Now the question arises that how much water does the body need in a day. There have been two major researches on this subject. The first research was done in 1945 by the American Food and Nutrition Board, in which it was said that the body needs one milliliter of water for every calorie. That is, if a person's diet is of 2000 calories, then he should drink about two liters of water.

Second research
The second research was published in 1974, in which it was suggested that every person should drink eight glasses of water a day. However, this number may not be suitable for everyone's body as every person's body is different and the need for water is also individual. Experts say that the best way is to listen to the body and drink water only when you feel thirsty. The body itself tells how much water it needs, so when you feel thirsty, drink water immediately.

Precautions while drinking water
Some people follow over-inflated ideas about drinking water, such as "drinking a lot of water will improve health", but these ideas can be wrong. Excessive water consumption can be harmful and can lead to sodium deficiency in the body, which can cause health problems.

Apart from this, it is also not right to use too much RO technology to sweeten the water. Drinking too much pure water can cause the body to lack essential minerals, which are normally present in natural water.
