Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have expressed their disappointment in response to remarks made by Justine Bateman. He criticized their involvement in assisting victims of the recent Los Angeles wildfires. The couple who were seen distributing food to those affected by the tragedy described the comments as “offensive.”

A source close to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared with Page Six that the couple found it hurtful that their efforts were being dismissed as a publicity stunt. “For anyone to suggest this was merely a photo opportunity is deeply disrespectful,” the source stated. “Los Angeles is Meghan’s birthplace and holds a special place in her heart. This is home to her and her concern is genuine,” the source continued.

Meghan and Harry have gone beyond just public appearances, dedicating significant time and resources to the cause, stated an insider. “They’ve made monetary donations, provided essential supplies, and volunteered tirelessly long before the media caught wind of their involvement. Meghan’s heart aches for the lives lost and the devastation caused by these fires,” mentioned the insider.

When 1980s Hollywood actress Justine Bateman took to X (formerly Twitter) to criticize the couple, the backlash began at that time. Labeling their efforts as disingenuous. Bateman’s post read, “Meghan Markle and Harry are no better than ambulance chasers. Their ‘photo op’ is disgusting. Are they politicians now? They’re ‘touring the damage’? They don’t live here; they’re tourists. Disaster Tourists. #PalisadesFire.”

In light of the tragedy, Meghan has delayed the release of her Netflix cooking series With Love, Meghan from its original January 15 launch date to March 4. She expressed gratitude to her Netflix team for accommodating the change, saying, “I’m thankful to my partners at Netflix for understanding the need to delay the show as we prioritize helping those affected by the wildfires in my home state of California.”

The couple’s actions continue to spark both support and criticism as they navigate their roles in philanthropy and public service.
