Sprouts are considered a powerhouse of energy among fitness lovers. People who go to gym and exercise often consume sprouts on an empty stomach in the morning, so that they can feel energetic throughout the day. Sprouted grains contain vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, which are beneficial for overall health. According to Ayurveda, sprouts are rich in nutrients, but to avail their benefits it is important to follow some precautions.

Rules to keep in mind before eating sprouts

  1. use clean utensils: Always use clean utensils for sprouted grains.
  2. safe water: Use clean and safe drinking water to soak and wash sprouts. If tap water is hard or highly chlorinated, filter or boil it before drinking.
  3. wash and soak: Wash the seeds thoroughly before soaking. After soaking, wash and dry the sprouts at least twice every 12 hours. In summer, it is better to wash every 6 hours.
  4. soak for sufficient time: Soak the grains in water for at least 6 hours or overnight. Keep in mind that different seeds germinate at different times, so it is advisable to store them separately.
  5. check before eating: Check the quality of sprouted grains before eating them. If the cereal has become discolored or has a foul odor, throw it away.
  6. avoid eating raw: According to Ayurveda, sprouted grains are considered to be of cold nature. If a person has a weak immune system, they are advised to cook lightly to avoid the risk of getting infected with bacteria.
  7. avoid food poisoning: Raw sprouts have been linked to food poisoning, as they may contain bacteria like Salmonella, E. coli, and Listeria, which can increase the risk of food poisoning.

By following these rules, you can take advantage of the health benefits of sprouts and improve your health.
