Ameesha Patel and Hrithik Roshan made their Bollywood debut 25 years ago with the blockbuster film Kaho Na Pyaar Hai. The films immense success catapulted both actors to stardom overnight. The songs and looks from the film created a massive craze among the audience. Ameesha Patel’s innocent and simple persona in Kaho Na Pyaar Hai earned her such a special place in the hearts of viewers that after the films success she began receiving letters written in blood. In an interview with Hindustan Times Ameesha recalled those days and shared how she used to feel scared upon receiving such letters. The actress mentioned that some fans would take her photographs to temples and churches even conducting mock weddings with her images. She explained that some fans would send her pictures with sindoor (vermilion) and garlands accompanied by notes saying You are only mine. Receiving Love Letters Alongside Hate Letters She further shared Along with love letters I also received hate letters. One letter read How can you work with Bobby Deol and Sunny Deol? You are only mine Sonia. I received letters written in blood. While it was flattering it was also quite scary. Fans Would Follow Her Everywhere Ameesha also described how some fans would go to extreme lengths in their obsession even following her around just to catch a glimpse of her. The Kaho Na Pyaar Hai actress said My security and watchmen had to step in and ask people to move away. At that time there was no social media. Fans would suddenly show up at my doorstep with letters they had written by hand. It was a different kind of craze back then.
