Fake Sadhu Baba in Prayagraj Mahakumbh 2025: A shocking incident came to light in the Mahakumbh fair organized in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, where a young man was begging alms by posing as a sadhu wearing saffron clothes. People were giving alms to this young man with a tripund on his forehead, thinking him to be a sadhu, but when some people asked him the name of Shiva's wife, he very shamelessly took the name 'Sita', who is the wife of Lord Ram and not Shiva. Everyone was shocked by this and he revealed the identity of the fake sadhu.
This incident happened amidst the hustle and bustle of the Maha Kumbh Mela, where lakhs of devotees come every year to perform their religious duties. It can sometimes be difficult to identify a true sadhu among the devotees at the Maha Kumbh, but this young man lost his identity due to his lack of information.
Maha Kumbh Mela is a symbol of religion and culture, and the faith of devotees can be affected due to such fake babas. Some pilgrims caught this young man and handed him over to the police. Police arrested him and have started further action.
This incident also highlights how some people use such deceit to take advantage of religious faith. There is a need to spread awareness in the society so that such fake babas can be avoided and real sadhus and saints can be identified.
