Early this morning, Delhi and the neighbouring areas were covered in a dense layer of fog, which significantly reduced visibility and caused numerous transport problems. Thousands of passengers have been impacted as scores of flights and trains have been delayed due to the heavy fog, which reduced visibility to almost nothing.

At least seven flights have been cancelled and 184 have been delayed. Several airlines, notably low-cost carriers IndiGo and SpiceJet, have issued warnings to their passengers about potential disruptions. Flights that are not Cat III compliant could be affected. A notice from Delhi Airport repeatedly said, "Passengers are asked to contact the airline in question for the most recent flight information." In order to avoid any disruptions, the airport advised travellers to monitor their flight schedules starting at 7:30 AM.

With 26 trains headed for Delhi running late and six others having their schedules changed, train services have also suffered. The dense fog caused road traffic in Delhi and nearby cities to come to a crawl, making commuting even more difficult.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Delhi reported a cold morning temperature of 9 degrees Celsius and poor visibility. The weather office predicts more fog in the evening and at night, with the possibility of light rain under cloudy skies.

Concerns about air quality persist in the capital city, where the average Air Quality Index (AQI) is still "poor." These cases highlight the importance of exercising caution when travelling and engaging in outdoor activities, especially for people with respiratory issues.

It is recommended that travellers often check the status of their trains or flights and keep in touch with the relevant authorities in case there are any developments. Road transport riders should use caution and maintain low speeds when driving in fog.

The impact on travel and daily life as the city gets ready for another severe weather event highlights how important effective contingency planning is. Although officials and transit providers are working to limit disruptions, travellers are advised to plan ahead and be patient as Delhi deals with these hazy conditions.

Delhi's winter fog is a persistent problem, highlighting the need for better infrastructure and real-time updates to guarantee more comfortable travel during inclement weather.
