Residents of Agra can now enjoy a faster and more efficient passport application and renewal process. The waiting period of 90 days has been significantly reduced with the implementation of a new service at the Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) located in Agra.

Expanded Appointment Slots for Quicker Processing

The main post office passport service center in Agra has doubled its daily appointment capacity from 40 to 80 slots. This means applicants who submit their applications online today can schedule their certificate verification as early as January 22. The verification process will be completed within just 15 days.

Passport Services History and Expansion

The Passport Seva Kendra in Agra, established in February 2018 at the Bijlighar main post office, faced significant demand from the start. To ease the load, a second center was opened in Achhnera. Despite these efforts, waiting times remained long, with applicants at both centers facing delays of up to 90 days for an appointment.

Agra emerged as the busiest center among the 11 POPSKs under the Ghaziabad Regional Passport Office, leading to the decision to increase daily appointment slots.

Increased Capacity Benefits 120 Applicants Daily

Currently, the combined capacity of the two centers allows 120 passport applications to be processed daily. While the Agra center accommodates 80 applicants, the Achhnera center processes 40 applications. Those seeking appointments at Achhnera are now getting slots for February 11. Applicants who have already scheduled earlier appointments can opt for a reschedule to take advantage of the increased slots.

Streamlined Verification and Delivery Process

The process begins with applicants submitting their forms online. Once an appointment is scheduled, they visit the center for document verification. Verified documents are then scanned and uploaded to the portal, triggering the police verification process. Upon receiving the police report, the passports are printed in Ghaziabad and dispatched to the applicant’s address via post.

Previously, applicants had to travel to Ghaziabad for these services, but the new system has made the process far more convenient and time-efficient.
