A 'freaky' horror film featuring a Hollywood heavyweight that bears an unfortunate title is set to hit streaming platforms soon and all men have been told they should see it.

Nightbi***, which premiered in cinemas last December, will be accessible on Disney+ for subscribers just a month after its theatrical release. It's scheduled to land on the platform for UK and Ireland viewers on January 24.

The movie is adapted from Rachel Yoder's novel of the same name, hailed as the best book of 2021 by Esquire and Vulture. The cinematic rendition stars Amy Adams, whose performance has garnered her a Golden Globe nomination and Oscar buzz.

This isn't unfamiliar territory for the actress, who boasts six Academy Award nominations for films like The Fighter and American Hustle.

Adams portrays a mother who shelves her artistic career to care for her toddler son full-time. With her husband frequently away on business, she shoulders most of the child-rearing responsibilities, reports .

Feeling estranged from her creative self and resenting the perceived pressure to bond with other mothers, she often daydreams about rebelling against those around her. Her life takes a bizarre twist when her evening routine morphs into something surreal, and her maternal instincts start to take on a canine form.

The movie is the brainchild of Marielle Heller and features her directorial savvy, previously showcased in Can You Ever Forgive Me and A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood with Tom Hanks. Critical opinion has been mixed, but accolades have poured in for the film's performances, as well as its dark wit and complex themes.

Mark Kermode, a respected film critic, suggested: "I think that every man should see this."

Meanwhile, Empire magazine described the movie as "a freaky but funny and appropriately messy film".

A cinema-goer who previewed the release cautioned male audiences with their advice: "It really hit home for me. There were so many moments, lines, events, that were so poignant, so spot on in their representation of life as a modern mother: where's my village? The mind blowing monotony, the joy and love for one's child with simultaneous desire to just run far far away. Men - I'm sorry but you won't get it."

Echoing similar sentiments, another viewer took to social media saying: "Say why you want about this movie. This was made for the stay at home moms. If you're a stay at home you get it. I've recommended to every mother I know. This one is for us."

Adding to their initial comments, they said: "I feel seen and so happy they made this. Ps I've never felt the need to review a movie ever but this movie deserves way more positive recognition."

Meanwhile, a third chimed in with praise: "Hilarious and spot-on. Explores the horror of post-partum abandonment and isolation with deft precision. I anticipate many opinions of this excellent film will unfortunately split along male/female and parent/non-parent divides."

Nightbi*** is streaming on Disney+ from January 24
