The Premier League is awash with exciting, young talents.

But legendary ex-Arsenal star Emmanuel Petit reckons there’s three who really stand out. He has named left-back Myles Lewis-Skelly, Manchester United’s and Ipswich striker as the competition’s biggest prospects.

In an interview with , Petit said: “Lewis-Skelly is so young [18], but he plays with so much maturity and energy. I like the way he takes decisions with the ball all the time.

“I would say Amad at is another one that looks like he can flourish in the . I was very impressed with his game against last week.

“Liam Delap is the third name. I’ve been really impressed by him and what he has done this season, his first in the Premier League. When I see what Delap is doing at Ipswich, they are fighting, they are in the relegation zone.

“They would have been in a worse situation at Ipswich without his goals.

“When you look at the way Ipswich is playing, I have the feeling that if you put that guy into a different team with different players alongside him, he would be probably competing for the best striker in the Premier League right now. Those three guys are very exciting.”

Delap, 21, is being tipped for England honours after proving such a hit following his summer move from Man City.

He has scored eight goals in 20 appearances since the £15m switch and, with strength, presence and finishing prowess, has proved he has all the tools to shine at the top level. Recently, Delap has scored in Ipswich’s 2-0 win over and their 2-2 draw at .

Petit, of course, made his name in the centre of a famous Arsenal midfield with Patrick Veira. He also helped France win the 1998 World Cup and knows all about what makes a team tick in the middle of the park.

Ex-Chelsea and star Petit, 54, is well-placed, then, to give his opinion on the current best central midfielders in the Premier League. He has gone for two players who are excelling in their second seasons at their respective clubs.

“I would probably say [Ryan] Gravenberch from Liverpool and Caicedo at Chelsea,” he said. “Caicedo, from what happened since he joined Chelsea, this season he has been a rock in the midfield.

“He was a little bit tired recently, but from the start of the season, I think he has been amazing. Gravenberch changed his position as well. You can see that the confidence is completely different with [Arne] Slot than it was with [Jurgen] Klopp.

“I think he needed one year to settle perfectly into the first 11. “Also, Slot changed the way they played. They play with more composure; you know it’s not now in transition all the time.

"They control the ball more, in terms of position. So that suits him the most. You can see that he has become a very, very good player at Liverpool and is a crucial part of the midfield and the way that Slot wants to play.”
