YouTube and Google contribute US$15 million to Los Angeles fire relief

Los Angeles: YouTube, a platform for uploading videos, announced Thursday that Google and the firm are donating USD 15 million to help its creator community in Los Angeles.

The CEO of Google and Alphabet, Sundar Pichai, promised his support to everyone in Los Angeles.

On X, he wrote, “To all of our employees, the YouTube creator community, and everyone in LA, please stay safe and know we’re here to support.”

After a week of terrible wildfires, CNN reported on Wednesday (local time) that California received additional government cash to assist with public infrastructure repairs.
According to the release, the money from the Federal Emergency Management Agency would assist in clearing debris and repairing roads, bridges, public utilities, and other public works projects that were harmed by the fires.

According to CNN, 30% of the damage inspections for the Palisades Fire’s effects have been finished; nevertheless, there are no set timeframes for the reopening of the blocked zones where the teams are working.

At a news conference on Wednesday, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Commander Christine Coles stated, “We are in constant communication with relevant agencies to assess when repopulation will be feasible.”

The already dangerous wildfire conditions in Los Angeles are expected to worsen on Wednesday as winds are predicted to increase throughout Southern California. According to Voice of America (VOA), the National Weather Service issued a warning that the gusts, which are predicted to reach their maximum between 3 am and 3 pm local time, could exacerbate fires that are already burning and have killed at least 25 people.
