Delhi Weather Update: Trains And Flights Face Delay Due To Dense Fog; IMD Predicts Light Rainfall In City

Delhi: The residents of the National Capital, Delhi, have been experiencing dense fog due to the cold wave conditions, which are persisting, especially in North India. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light rainfall on Thursday, January 16, 2025.

Thunderstorms and lightning are also likely to occur during rainfall, as per the weather department. The IMD has predicted a yellow alert in the city and its adjoining areas until Sunday. Meanwhile, today, the sky is expected to be cloudy, which is likely to remain the same throughout the day.

Train and flight services delayed

The city has been experiencing dense fog conditions for a few weeks, and visibility has dropped to zero. According to the Indian Railway, over 29 trains to Delhi are running behind schedule on Thursday. At least seven flights have been canceled, 184 flights have been delayed, and 26 trains experienced delays on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.

The minimum and maximum temperature is expected to range between 9 degrees Celsius and 17 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity is expected to be around 75 per cent and the wind is likely to blow steadily from the Northeast at 8 km/h. Today, the city witnessed the sunrise at 7:15 am and it is expected to set at 6:47 pm.

The city is suffering from air quality ranging between severe to very poor. The Air Quality Index (AQI) is expected to stand at 199, which indicates poor air quality in the city.
