Legendary Pakistani actor Salman Shahid, known for his impressive five-decade career across various entertainment fields, recently featured in the controversial drama Barzakh.

The star appeared on the talk show Gup Shab, where he shared insights into his career, the lessons he’s learned along the way, and the heated reactions to Asim Abbasi’s Barzakh, which sparked intense criticism.

Discussing the negative feedback the series received, Shahid reflected on its emotional impact.

He mentioned that the cast remained in close contact throughout the airing of the show, and although the initial backlash was challenging, it gradually subsided once the series ended.

Despite this, he admitted feeling that the level of criticism was excessive.

Addressing claims that the show pushed certain agendas, Shahid clarified that there was no intention to promote any specific narrative.

He emphasized that Barzakh was simply a project and expressed his openness to constructive criticism, acknowledging its value when it’s offered thoughtfully.

Earlier, renowned fashion designer Maria B has officially filed a complaint with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) against the controversial web series ‘Barzakh’.

Controversy over LGBTQ+ Content:

Maria B, known for her vocal stance against LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) issues, expressed her outrage over the depiction of homosexual relationships and explicit content in ‘Barzakh’.

Criticism of ‘Barzakh’ Director:

The drama, aired on ZEE5, features a Pakistani cast and directed by a Pakistani director.

Instead of the show has angered many by portraying romantic relationships between two men, which has been seen as offensive to the sentiments of the Muslim community.

Maria B’s Major Action Against ‘Barzakh’:

On Instagram, Maria B shared a video revealing her complaint against ‘Barzakh’ for promoting premarital sexual relations and introducing the topic of child grooming.

In the video, she said that they had taken the first step in our strategy to address child grooming in Pakistan because they couldnot allow anyone to show filth and indecency to our children.

Maria B forced people to join the campaign by reporting the content on the PTA website, sharing the link in her video message.
