January 17, New Delhi Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, visited with the patients and their companions at Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) who were waiting for treatment. He said the Delhi government and the Center were “insensitive” to them.
The material was disseminated on social media by the Congress party.
Rahul Gandhi visited the institution Thursday night and spoke with the patients and their attendants, the party claimed in a post on X.
Videos of Gandhi’s visit were shared by the party, showing him reassuring and conversing with the populace. He listened to their issues, and some of them gave him written notes, which Gandhi then distributed to his employees.
“The reality of Delhi AIIMS today is months of waiting for treatment, as well as the inconvenience and insensitivity of the administration. In the post, the Congress said, “The situation is such that people who have traveled from distant places with the burden of their loved ones’ illness are forced to sleep on sidewalks and subways in this freezing cold.”
“… Leader of Opposition Shri @RahulGandhi met the patients waiting for treatment, talked to them, and listened to their problems,” the party claimed, providing specifics of the visit.
The Leader of Opposition visited with patients and their families outside Delhi AIIMS, according to the post. “People who have come from far away places for treatment are forced to sleep on the roads, footpaths and subways here,” the opposition party said.
“The Modi Government and the Delhi Government have left them to their own,” the Congress stated, criticizing the AAP-led Delhi administration and the Center. Their responsibilities have been abandoned.
“Burden of disease, biting cold, and government insensitivity today I met patients and their families outside AIIMS who have come from far and wide in search of treatment,” Rahul Gandhi said in a Hindi Instagram post.
“On their path to get treatment, they are forced to sleep on roads, footpaths and subways – just keeping a flame of hope burning amidst the cold ground, hunger, and inconveniences,” Gandhi said.
“He asked for my phone number and said his team will get in touch with me and assist me as much as they can,” one of the patients claimed. My 13-year-old daughter suffers from blood cancer. Since our arrival on December 3rd, we have not received the appropriate care.
Govind Lal, a patient, stated: “He inquired about my stay here. He inquired about my girls’ therapy as well. A patient’s family said that since they are impoverished, they had been waiting in the cold with no other choice.
