Reliance Retail led by Isha Ambani is aggressively expanding its footprint in Indias premium and luxury retail market. As part of its latest initiatives the country’s leading retailer is bringing Saks Fifth Avenue the iconic American luxury department store to the Indian market. Reliance Retail Franchise With Saks Fifth Avenue The announcement was made during Reliance Industries Limited’s (RIL) earnings call on January 16. Reliance Retail CFO Dinesh Taluja stated “To address the super luxury segment in India we entered into a franchise agreement with Saks Fifth Avenue a global luxury retailer.” Saks Fifth Avenue known for its expertly curated selection of luxury fashion and personalized customer service has been a hallmark of luxury retail since its inception in 1924. The brand operates 41 stores across North America and is now set to make its mark in India through Reliance Retail’s premium brands division. Reliance Retail Strengthening Premium Portfolio This move follows Reliance Retail’s earlier successful ventures into the luxury market. It previously introduced Tiffany & Co the iconic American jeweler to India in partnership. Additionally Reliance brought in luxury fashion brands like Sandro and debuted the London-based restaurant chain EL&N Cafes in the Indian market. In a related development Reliance Retail has also partnered with Mothercare PLC through a joint venture to acquire the Mothercare brand and its intellectual property assets for the Indian subcontinent. Mothercare is a globally recognized specialist in products for parents and young children. Reliance Retail FMCG Growth And Expansion Beyond luxury Reliance Retail is making significant strides in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) segment. Its consumer brands business achieved revenues exceeding ₹8000 crore in the first nine months of FY25. The companys flagship brands Campa and Independence continue to gain traction in the market. Campa now holds over a 10% market share in the sparkling beverage category in select states. Both brands are projected to cross ₹1000 crore in turnover each by the end of FY25. Reliance Retail aims to become a dominant player in the FMCG space and is actively deepening its presence in general trade channels leveraging its growing portfolio of consumer brands and acquisitions. With the introduction of Saks Fifth Avenue strategic joint ventures and continued focus on consumer brands the company is poised to solidify its position as a leader across diverse market segments.
