Call the Midwife actress Natalie Quarry has hinted at a blossoming but potentially troubled love story for her character Rosalind Clifford.

During their cosy chat on ITV's Lorraine, Natalie alongside co-star Rebecca Gethings discussed the ongoing thrills of the beloved series. Anchor Ranvir Singh pointed out the undeniable "chemistry" between Rosalind and Cyril Robinson, further fuelled by recent heartbreak when Cyril left for Jamaica to be with his wife Lucille, causing a stir among fans in the latest season.

"We want a bit of romance, don't we? But it's complicated. There is undoubtedly some chemistry going on between you and Cyril," quizzed Ranvir before the audience was treated to an exclusive sneak peek from the drama.

Addressing the burgeoning romance, Natalie remained tight-lipped: "Well, look, I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but it isn't the end of their story. That's all I'm going to say. But I may not say anymore," she tantalisingly suggested, as viewers brace for what could be a dramatic love triangle.

Debuting in the show's 13th series, pupil midwife and nurse Rosalind has created quite a buzz, especially after volunteering alongside Cyril at a homeless shelter. Episode excitement peaked last Sunday when playful behaviour led to a touching display of potential affection, reports .

Yet after receiving wisdom from Mrs Wallace about the sanctity of marriage, Cyril made the gut-wrenching choice to journey back to his spouse, stirring speculation and leaving audiences eager to see what unfolds next.

"It's been too long since I've seen her. The ocean feels very wide sometimes," Cyril confessed to Rosalind before his departure.

Despite her show of support, Rosalind was visibly upset as Cyril walked away. Who will he ultimately choose?

In other news from today's interview, Natalie highlighted the relevance of the show in the 21st century, noting its "many parallels" with contemporary life.

"I think that's one of the great things about the show is that there are so many parallels between it and the world that we're living in now, which I think is why people still enjoy it," she expressed.

Call The Midwife continues Sunday on BBC One.
