Tamil films being remade by Bollywood is nothing new. In fact, some have been hits in both industries. One such film is about to come out and it is remade from a Tamil movie that earned close to 20 times its budget. Yes, you read it correctly.

The original film is Love Today that came out in 2022. Made on a budget of Rs. 5 crore, the film earned close to Rs. 100 crore worldwide. Now the Hindi remake is all set to come out. The name of the remake is Loveyapa.

The original one was one of the most profitable films in India and the remake has an Aamir Khan connection. The male lead role is being played by his son Junaid. Also starring opposite him is Khushi Kapoor, daughter of the late Sridevi. For both these artists, it is a big screen debut as their first films came out on Netflix directly.

Loveyapa hits theatres on February 7. The plot is the same where two lovers are told to exchange phones to see if they can trust each other. Then come the problems, misunderstandings and also arguments that follow. Love wins in the end but after a huge test.

Other than the leads, the film also stars Grusha Kapoor, Ashutosh Rana, Tanvika Parlikar, Kiku Sharda, Devishi Mandan, Aaditya Kulshreshth, Nikhil Mehta and Jason Tham. It remains to be seen if it does as well, if not better than the original. Junaid’s father and Khushi’s mother are Bollywood legends and now the kids are following their footsteps.

Those who have watched Love Today can pretty much figure out how things go about in Loveyapa. Whether they have completely copied it or made minor changes is something we will know only after the film comes out. With three weeks to go, the countdown begins.
