Bengaluru: After a brief lull, factional politics within the BJP has resurfaced. A meeting of Yediyurappa loyalists, led by former minister M.P. Renukacharya, was held to demand action against BJP leader Ramesh Jarkiholi over his recent controversial statements.

The meeting took place at Katta Subramanya Naidu’s residence in Bengaluru— with prominent leaders like Y. Sampangi, Katta Subramanya Naidu, and M.D. Lakshminarayana in attendance. The group strongly condemned Jarkiholi’s remarks and decided to file a complaint with the party high command. They also demanded Jarkiholi’s expulsion from the party.

Statements Post-Meeting

Former Legislative Council member M.D. Lakshminarayana said, “Certain individuals have been making statements against the party and Yediyurappa. This is unacceptable. From Bidar to Chamarajanagar, party workers are questioning such behavior. There are internal forums within the party to address disagreements, and these should be utilized.”

He emphasized that disrespect towards Yediyurappa will not be tolerated. “We have already brought this matter to the attention of Karnataka BJP in-charge Radhamohan Das. Those with differences should discuss them within the party rather than making public statements.”

Support for Vijayendra

Former minister M.P. Renukacharya remarked, “It has become necessary for us to raise our voices. Vijayendra has every right to hold meetings with both winning and losing candidates. He is a capable leader, not a weak one. While Ramesh Jarkiholi is a friend, his unnecessary criticism of Yediyurappa is uncalled for. Why insult the party and its high-command leaders without reason? Vijayendra will continue as party president in accordance with party rules,” he asserted.

Renukacharya further criticized the perception that the BJP lacks unity to challenge Congress. He added, “When Yediyurappa entered politics, many of these critics were not even in the political sphere. You cannot dismiss his contributions due to age. Leaders who lost should join hands and fight together for the party’s future. This was the intent behind Vijayendra’s meeting.”

Sharp Remarks Against Jarkiholi

Renukacharya questioned Jarkiholi’s loyalty, stating, “Ramesh Jarkiholi has switched between the JD(S), Congress, and now BJP. He has enjoyed power alongside Yediyurappa. How can he now make disparaging remarks about him?”
