Women professors can now take leave in the name of child care for up to two years to take care of their child. Higher educational institutions will not be able to hesitate in granting leave.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has included the provision of child care in the UGC Regulation 2025. If any higher educational institution does not follow the rule, then it can also be debarred. According to the senior official, many times women professors used to complain about this issue, while it came under their jurisdiction. Given these problems, UGC has included it in the new rules.
Strict action on violation of rules
