A new 'Insert' button is now being added to the Gemini Assistant in the Android version of Gmail. This artificial intelligence (AI) feature has been available in the web version of Gmail since last year, but it was not in the Android app till now. According to the report, this feature is now being rolled out to all Android devices. This update comes after adding Google Calendar support to Gemini Assistant in November 2024. It is worth noting that to use this feature, users will have to buy a Gemini Advanced subscription.

Gemini's new feature in Gmail's Android app

Until now, users using Gemini in Gmail's Android app could use the AI chatbot to reply to emails, although the reply suggested by Gemini had to be manually added to the email draft. Users either copied the text from the Gemini interface and pasted it into the email draft or typed the answer themselves. In both these cases, the process was a bit difficult and due to this the use of the reply suggestion feature was less.

This problem was not there in the web version of Gmail, where users have been getting the 'Insert' button since last year, but now, as per Android Authority's report, the 'Insert' button is finally being added to the Gmail Android app as well. This update is included in Android version 2025.01.05.715468168 of Gmail.

The new 'Insert' tool is part of Gemini Assistant's 'Suggest Replies' feature. This AI platform developed by Google can summarize emails, find information from old emails, and also add events to Google Calendar. This integration with Google Calendar was rolled out late last year.
