Mumbai: Tata Mumbai Marathon was held on Sunday, January 19. Eritrea’s Berhane Tesfay won the full Marathon with the timings of two hours, 11 minutes and 44 seconds in the elite men’s category. Tesfay’s countryman Merhawi Kesete bagged the second spot with a gun time of two hours 11 minutes and 50 seconds. Meanwhile, Tesfaye Demeke secured the third spot with a gun time of two hours 11 minutes and 56 seconds.If we talk about the Indian men’s category, Anish Thapa bagged the top spot with the timings of two hours 17 minutes and 23 seconds, Man Singh bagged the second spot with the gun-time of two hours 17 minutes and 37 seconds. Gopi Thonakal came third in the category with the timings of two hours 17 minutes and 59 seconds.Elite WOmen categoryJoyce Chepkemoi Tele, won the women’s elite crown in 2:24:56s, finishing ahead of Shitaye Eshete (2:25:29s) of Bahrain and Medina Deme Armino (2:27:58s) of Ethiopia.Here Is The Complete Winners List in men's category:Tata Mumbai Half Marathon Winners:Sawan Barwal won the half Marathon in the men’s category with a gun time of one hour four minutes and 37 seconds. Harmanjot Singh bagged the second position with the gun-time of one hour six minutes and three seconds, while Kartik Karkera secured the third spot. He finished the race in one hour seven minutes and 20 seconds.In the women’s category of the Half Marathon, Stanzin Dolkar secured the first position with a gun time of one hour 25 minutes and 51 seconds, while Skarma Idong Lanze secured the second spot with the timings of one hour 27 minutes and three seconds. Tashi Ladon took one hour 29 minutes and 30 seconds to complete the half-marathon to bag the third place.Notably, the half Marathon is 21 km and in the full Marathon runners have to complete the distance of 42 km.Dream Run Category:Around 25,000 people participate in the Dream Run category where people ran for different causes. MLA Chhagan Bhujbal, Special Commissioner of Police Mumbai Police Deven Bharti, Former BMC Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal and Amruta Fadnavis flagged off the race. Central Railways led the run with actors like Neha Dhupia and Rahul Bose participated in the run.The Tata Mumbai Marathon is an annual global marathon event that takes place on the third Sunday of every year. It starts from the iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT).
