In Bollywood during the 90s era there was always a name that shined bright. This actress worked with several big names including Govinda Mithun Chakraborty Anil Kapoor and many more actors. Her sister is married to Souths superstar. The actress we are talking about is also making headlines with her appearance in Salman Khans reality show Bigg Boss 18. If you have not guessed it then the actress in discussion here is Shilpa Shirodkar. Shilpa Shirodkar started her career opposite Mithun Chakraborty. She then featured in movies like Trinetra (1991) Hum (1991) Khuda Gawah (1992) Aankhen (1993) Pehchaan (1993) Gopi Kishan (1994) Bewafa Sanam (1995) and Mrityudand (1997). In 2000 Shilpa appeared in Gaja Gamini and later decided to step away from films following her marriage. After a 13-year hiatus she made a powerful comeback with Zee TVs hit show Ek Mutthi Aasmaan which focused on the lives of domestic helpers. In one of her interviews Shilpa opened up about her struggles in Bollywood and when she was jinxed. During an interview with The Times of India she said “By this time everyone in the industry had named me ‘Jinxed’. But Rikkuji didn’t give up on me. He started showing my pictures to everyone in the industry and I bagged Bhrashtachar and my journey in Bollywood began. Mithun Da helped me a lot; he was instrumental in my jinxed tag being wiped out.” She added “So yes I didn’t come with all the frills and fancies but I made it. Honestly for me all my films are very dear to me. But yes there are a few films which if released would have made a big big difference in my career. Kalinga which was directed by Dilip Saab Singer opposite Ajay Devgn which was directed by Sunil Agnihotri and Ladies Only which was produced by Kamal Hassan were a few films.” Shilpa said that during the 90s people called her fat and she was even bullied and rejected. She revealed that Shah Rukh Khans iconic song Chaiyya Chaiyya was first offered to her. However later the song was taken away from her and given to Malaika Arora. Meanwhile coming to what Shilpa is doing currently the actress was a part of Salman Khans reality show Bigg Boss 18. However she has now been eliminated and is rooting for her favorite contestants.
