India has a rich and glorious history, where there have been many great and brave kings who fought for the welfare of their country and people. But history also mentions some such kings, who harmed the country due to their selfishness or personal reasons. King Jaichand was also one of them, whose betrayal caused great damage to the Indian Empire.

Controversy between Jaichand and Prithviraj Chauhan

King Jaichand's name is famous for betrayal in Indian history, and the main reason for this was his animosity towards King Prithviraj Chauhan. Prithviraj Chauhan had got the throne of Delhi, about which Jaichand was very angry. He believed that Prithviraj Chauhan had no right to sit on the throne, because he was from his own kingdom and Jaichand himself was considered worthy of the throne of Delhi.

Marriage of Sanyogita and Prithviraj

Apart from this, the swayamvar of Jaichand's daughter Sanyogita also became the reason for another controversy. When Samyogita chose Prithviraj Chauhan as her husband, Jaichand found it insulting. Prithviraj abducted Samyogita from the swayamvara, which further increased Jaichand's anger. This incident made Jaichand a sworn enemy of Prithviraj and he started planning to take revenge on him.

Jaichand's alliance with Mohammad Ghori

Amidst the growing tension between Prithviraj Chauhan and Jaichand, Mohammad Ghori decided to invade India. Taking advantage of this situation, Jaichand is said to have joined Ghori and helped him take revenge on Prithviraj. However, this claim is controversial and there is no historical evidence that Jaichand actually assisted Ghori.

Prithviraj's victory and then defeat

The first time Mohammad Ghori fought Prithviraj, King Prithviraj defeated him and routed Ghori's army. But in the second battle, Jaichand did not support Prithviraj. It is said that Jaichand joined hands with Ghori and as a result Prithviraj Chauhan had to face defeat.

The heat of betrayal

Jaichand's betrayal not only led to the defeat of Prithviraj Chauhan, but it also marked a black chapter in the history of India. His betrayal weakened the Indian empire and paved the way for foreign invaders to enter India. Although, due to lack of historical evidence some critics do not agree that Jaichand helped Ghori, but his actions certainly harmed the country.

The history of King Jaichand is a sad example, when personal enmity and selfishness put the entire empire in trouble. His betrayal led to the defeat of Prithviraj Chauhan's army and made the way easy for the invaders in the Indian subcontinent. This incident proved to be a turning point in the history of India, which teaches us that disputes between kings and princes can affect the entire country.
