Varanasi. Under the Road Safety Month, drivers are being constantly made aware of the rules and precautions. Despite this, drivers are not following the rules. According to transport officials, if a driver is challaned more than 10 times, then his driving license will be cancelled. The DL cannot be restored for five years. Last year, 523 DLs were suspended.
Last year in 2024, the traffic police challaned 659652 vehicles and seized 4797 vehicles. Divisional Transport Officers said that most challans are being issued for not wearing seat belts, driving two-wheelers without helmets, breaking signals and driving under the influence of alcohol. Despite this, drivers are ignoring traffic rules. Divisional Transport Officer Enforcement Shyam Lal said that drivers are being made aware under the National Road Safety Month. At the same time, action is also being taken against those who break the rules. There is also a provision to cancel the license if challan is issued 10 times.
