London: The social organization of British Hindus and Indians, Insight UK, said Monday that a gang of radicals who support Khalistan broke into a movie theater in the town of Harrow, London, and tried to prevent the showing of the Kangana Ranaut film “Emergency.”
UK Insights shared a video on X that showed the fanatics yelling pro-Khalistani chants when the movie, which focused on India’s 1975 emergency era, was being shown.
The movement said, “Pro-Khalistan fanatics rush Harrow theater and try to halt the playing of “Emergency.”
Notably, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) claims that in 2023, Khalistani sympathizers who were trying to further the cause of Khalistan and call for the state of Punjab to secede from India violently attacked the Indian High Commission in London.
In order to influence the crackdown on the group and its commander, the NIA claims that the assaults in London were carried out in retribution for Punjab police’s action against Amritpal Singh, Chief of Waris Punjab De.
On the other hand, Emergency, which was published on January 17, 2025, centers on the contentious and revolutionary 21-month period of emergency that Indira Gandhi proclaimed in 1975–1977.
Kangana, who plays Indira Gandhi in the film, which was directed by her, examines the social effects and political unrest during the emergency. Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, and the late Satish Kaushik are also featured in the movie.
