Ingredients to make Methi Paneer:
– Paneer – 200 grams (cut into square pieces)
– Fresh fenugreek leaves – 2 cups (chopped)
Onions – 2 medium (finely chopped)
– Tomato – 2 big (make puree)
– Green chilli – 1-2 (finely chopped)
– Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tsp
– Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
– Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
– Coriander powder – 1 tsp
– Garam masala – 1/2 tsp
– Cream (for me) – 2 tbsp
– Kasuri Methi – 1 tsp (optional)
Oil or ghee – 2 tbsp
– Salt – as per taste
How to make Methi Paneer
1. Prepare Fenugreek:
– Wash fresh fenugreek leaves and chop them finely.
– Sprinkle light salt and keep for 10 minutes, then squeeze to remove bitterness.
2. Lightly fry the paneer (optional):
– Heat some oil in a pan.
– Fry the paneer pieces until light golden and keep aside.
3. Prepare the masala:
1. Heat oil in a pan.
2. Add finely chopped onion and fry until golden.
3. Add ginger-garlic paste and green chillies, and fry for 1-2 minutes.
4. Now add tomato puree and spices (turmeric, red chilli, coriander powder) and cook for 5-7 minutes until the spices leave the oil.
4. Add fenugreek and cheese:
1. Add chopped fenugreek leaves to the prepared masala and cook for 2-3 minutes.
2. Add fried paneer and mix gently.
5. Prepare the gravy:
1. Add salt as per taste.
2. Add some crushed fenugreek seeds.
3. Add cream and cook on low flame for 2-3 minutes.
6. Serve:
