Update on Noida Airport: According to a Financial Express story, Christoph Schnellmann, CEO of Noida International Airport, said that Jewar Airport, also known as Noida International Airport (NIA), would be a major station on the future Delhi-Varanasi high-speed train track. The Uttar Pradesh government stated it has delivered all essential municipal services as promised in the March 2021 deal with Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), the concessionaire for Noida International Airport, with operations scheduled to start in April.

Schnellmann said that “one runway and one terminal, with a capacity to accommodate annual traffic of 12 million passengers, will be part of the first phase of development.” However, the airport will be able to handle 70 million people a year if all four growth stages are finished.

Domestic and International Services at Noida Airport

Schnellmann further emphasized the extensive aircraft network that links Noida International Airport to several regional and international locations in addition to major Indian metropolises. He was cited in the newspaper as saying, “We’re collaborating closely with airlines to create a thorough route map that will provide travelers with easy access to a variety of locations across the country and beyond.” Details are anticipated to be released closer to the Noida airport’s inauguration date.

Airport Connectivity in Noida

With just three months till debut, travelers may have concerns regarding the airport’s accessibility to surrounding communities and the existing transportation options. The airport is located near Jewar, which is around 90 km from Delhi’s IGI Airport, 70 km from Connaught Place, 60 km from Noida City Center, and 40 km from Greater Noida’s Pari Chowk, the final stop on the metro grid.

The airport’s first phase foot traffic, which aims to reach 5–6 million people in the first year, will determine its viability. With the exception of a few private and UP Roadways bus lines, there is no public transportation to Jewar; therefore, the next two months will need to be a laborious time on the ground.

In partnership with Mahindra Mobility, Noida International Airport has introduced an airport cab service. In order to provide a city bus service that would offer a reliable link to the airport, the authorities of Noida, Greater Noida, and Yamuna have also joined together to create an SPV.
