Palghar: A crack was discovered on the railway track near Vaitarna station in Palghar on the Western Railway line, causing disruptions in train services. The issue came to light around 8 am on Tuesday, affecting the up-line tracks towards Mumbai. This has impacted long-distance trains heading to Mumbai, with several express trains being halted at Vaitarna station and other nearby stations in Palghar district.

Repair Work Underway On War Footing

Fortunately, the crack was identified in time, averting a major accident. Railway authorities have deployed teams to the site and repair work on the damaged track has begun on a war footing, as per a Saam TV report. However, this repair activity is expected to delay the train schedules on the up-line. Some long-distance trains from Gujarat have been temporarily stopped at alternative stations to manage the situation.

Minor Disruptions To WR Local Train Services

The incident also caused minor disruptions to local train services, with up-line trains currently running at reduced speeds toward Mumbai. Commuters, including office-goers and students, are likely to face delays throughout the day due to the ongoing repair work.

"WR's Mumbai Suburban local trains and long distance trains entering Mumbai are running late by 15-20 minutes late due to technical failure at Vaitarna Station," posted Western Railway in an update.

Railway officials are actively working to replace the damaged section of the track and have assured that normal operations will resume soon. However, passengers are advised to anticipate delays and make alternative travel arrangements if necessary.

Night Block On WR In Upcoming Days

Meanwhile, Western Railway recently announced a major block on the intervening nights of January 24th/25th (Friday/Saturday) and January 25th/26th (Saturday/Sunday) in order to reconstruct a bridge between Mahim and Bandra stations.

A total of 127 suburban services will be cancelled on the night of Friday/Saturday, and around 150 suburban services will be cancelled on the night of Saturday/Sunday due to this block. Additionally, around 60 suburban services will be partially cancelled.
