Wrexham ace James McClean's car is reportedly a "write-off" following a road accident that left his Audi RS6 in tatters. The 35-year-old midfielder found himself in a troubling scenario early Wednesday morning, January 22, ahead of his team's much-anticipated match against Birmingham.

A distressed fan conveyed the news online: "Just seen James McClean in a car crash."

They added: "Written his car off and holding a bleeding arm. Doesn't look good. He was walking around his black Audi. Smashed up. Loads of cops."

An ominous fog blanketed the Wrexham area at the time. Social media buzzed with images of McClean's vehicle being taken away, including one from an X user captioned: "James McClean smashing up his car outside my golf club."

Responders rushed to the site of the collision involving the skilled player, who boasts a history with Premier League teams Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion, as well as Championship experience with Wigan Athletic and Stoke City.

McClean, a controversial figure due to his choice not to wear a poppy during Remembrance Sunday events, recently caused a stir. Having joined Wrexham in 2023, he made headlines by branding Shrewsbury a 'cesspit full of inbreds' on Instagram, following a rough defeat and after facing haranguing from local supporters, further inciting tensions when he attempted direct confrontation, only to be halted by vigilant stewards.

He also found himself in the referee's book, receiving a yellow card for disputing a call. Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson brushed off the incident when speaking to Sky Sports, saying: "He's fine.

"James is used to it wherever he goes. Fans get on his back home and away and sometimes it can be tough and spill over but he is used to it."

Yet, come Saturday morning, McClean fired back through Instagram, risking potential sanctions by criticising the community around the English club.
