Broadcaster has delighted fans by announcing his return to this Friday.

The 61-year-old shared the exciting news on X, writing: "This week is getting better and better. I've been asked to return to GMB on Friday! I'll be alongside the wonderful Caroline Flint!"

The announcement comes after a turbulent year for Iain, who stepped away from his long-standing role at LBC radio in May 2024 to pursue his ambition of becoming a Conservative Member of Parliament for Tunbridge Wells.

However, his political aspirations hit a roadblock after negative comments he made in the past about the Kent town resurfaced, leading him to withdraw his candidacy just four days after launching his campaign.

He protested that there was context to his statement that he "never liked" Tunbridge Wells, adding: "If I hated it that much, would I have stayed living there for 27 years? I don't think I would.

"Everybody listening to this now will have some complaint about where they live. I just put it in far too graphic terms."

However, he decided to step down regardless, saying it would be worse to attempt to run as an MP and "suffer death by a thousand cuts" as his political opponents used his critique of his constituency against him.

Iain's decision to run for office required him to leave his beloved LBC show, where he had been a fixture for 14 years.

During his tenure, he hosted major political broadcasts, including general election and referendum night specials.

After his attempt to run for MP went wrong, Iain acknowledged his decision to leave his broadcasting career might have been rash, saying: "I've made the mistake of making a decision without probably thinking of every possible consequence, so it would be a bit silly to do the same again."

Following his withdrawal from the political race, Iain's focus shifted to his health after he was rushed to A&E in July for emergency surgery to remove his gallbladder.

The GMB regular took to social media to update fans, praising the NHS for their exceptional care during his ordeal. He reassured followers that he was on the road to recovery, adding: "NHS care at Tunbridge Wells hospital is so far outstanding."

Now Iain is ready to be back in the spotlight on GMB and eager to reconnect with viewers.

The TV personality's return has been met with mixed reactions from viewers. His fans gushed over the news that he is making a comeback, with one writing: "Thank the Lord! Will be good to see you back in one of the places you belong."

Another added: "Brilliant, we've missed you." However, others did not share that sentiment. Someone responded to his tweet voicing their disgust, saying: "Thanks for the heads up so I can avoid it."

A second hit out: "Lately you are part and parcel of the uni party over last few years which is destroying our country."
