Ranji Trophy 2025: Shubman Gill, India’s top batsman, had a poor start to his comeback to domestic cricket on Thursday, scoring only four runs in the first innings against Karnataka. Gill was unable to score a lot of runs after the BCCI’s rule to play domestic cricket.
He got off to a fantastic start as he hit a four in Abhilash Shetty’s over, but Shetty caught him behind and dismissed him.
In the just-finished five-match Test series against Australia, he had a terrible batting performance, scoring only 93 runs in the five innings he played and failing to reach a half-century.
Rohit and Jaiswal both fall short.
In their Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored five runs off eight balls while India’s captain Rohit Sharma was dismissed after just three runs off 19 balls.
After ten years, Rohit was playing in the Ranji Trophy competition, but he was clearly having trouble. He suffered at the hands of J&K quick bowlers Auqib Nabi and Umar Nazir.
Nazir’s superb line and length tormented him continuously, as he managed to get stuck and not bat despite taking a single in the opening over. He was struck in the arm by a bouncing delivery by Nazir. The ball went down the track as Rohit mistimed his attempt.
Jaiswal had been removed by Nabi before Rohit’s wicket. Jaiswal was trapped in front of the wicket by him. A cover drive was mistimed by the young batsman with a flying start.
