Ram Gopal Verma sentenced in 7 year old check bounce case, court imposed compensation of Rs 3.72 lakh

Well-known film director Ram Gopal Varma has been sentenced to three months imprisonment by a Mumbai court. This case was filed by a company named Shree in 2018, the hearing on which continued for seven years. The court has also directed Verma to pay a compensation of Rs 3.72 lakh.

Hearing in 7 year old case
Ram Gopal Varma, who was in the news these days for the re-release of his famous film 'Satya', got caught in an old controversy. The case dates back to 2018, when a company named Shree had filed a check bounce case against Verma. On January 21, the court called him for hearing, but Verma did not appear in the court. After this, the court issued a non-bailable warrant and sentenced him to three months' imprisonment.

Ram Gopal Varma's statement
After the conviction, Ram Gopal Varma gave his clarification on social media platform 'X' (formerly Twitter). He said,
“The news that is doing the rounds regarding me and the Andheri Court case, I would like to clarify that it is to my former employee. This is a 7 year old case involving an amount of Rs 2.38 lakh. My lawyers are working on it. Since the matter is before the court, I cannot say anything more than this.”

He wrote in another post,
“This is not just a matter of settlement of Rs 2.38 lakh, but an attempt to fabricate and exploit the dispute. That's all I want to say for now.”

Court's decision and instructions to give compensation
Mumbai court has directed Verma to pay compensation of Rs 3.72 lakh to the complainant within three months. If they fail to do so, they may have to go to jail.

Controversy amid re-release of 'Satya'
Ram Gopal Varma, known for cult classic films like 'Satya', was currently working on the re-release of the film. However, this matter has become a big problem for them.

Ambedkar also praised the important contribution of Brahmins in the making of the Constitution.
