Arsenal fans are growing uneasy with less than two weeks remaining for their side to bring in some much-needed reinforcements if they are to contend with Liverpool's chase.
has explored and pursued several potential strikers as he attempts to address open-play woes in front of goal. The chief candidate from this search seems to be RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko, with Wolves' Matheus Cunha also an option. But, luring either player to the Emirates Stadium will have to be done at a premium cost.
This marked-up cost seems to be the main stumbling block for the Gunners as clubs grow increasingly reluctant to sell key players the closer to the February 3 transfer deadline we get.

However, what if fans' wildest transfer dreams came true and the London club was able to land several key targets in the remaining 11 days of the window - how would the Gunners starting XI look?
OutgoingsRealistically, several incomings will need to be off-balanced by some outgoings - and there are a few deals to be done.
Oleksandr Zinchenko was the subject of interest from AC Milan at the start of the month as the Ukrainian has struggled to earn minutes this season - falling behind makeshift teenage left-back Myles Lewis-Skelly who has impressed. If Arteta was to recoup a significant chunk of the £30million he shelled out on Zinchenko in 2022 then his stay at the Emirates will come to a close.
Likewise, left-sided defenders Jakub Kiwior and Kieran Tierney have admirers. If the right offers present themselves, Arsenal could land some serious cash for the pair. 27-year-old Tierney has been tipped for a return to Celtic and his current club would likely be happy with any cash amount to see him return to his boyhood club as the Scotsman's current contract expires in the summer.
Jorginho has been linked with a move to Brazil and, in this perfect scenario, Arsenal can fast-track their expected signing of Martin Zubimendi to allow the Italian metronome to leave in January.
In terms of loans, Raheem Sterling just hasn't worked out. But with Arsenal's loan targets playing overseas, rather than in the Premier League, he will get to stay for the rest of the season.
IncomingsThe big signing has to be a striker and, as it stands, the main man the club would like to bring in is Benjamin Sesko .
The club has held a long interest in the player, kept at bay in the summer after he extended his contract at Leipzig, and have returned for the six-foot-five Slovenian to lead the attacking line between now and the end of the season.
While Sesko should help the side with goals, he will still need a steady supply of chances and, with starman Buykao Saka still injured, the club will need further attacking options.
A potential recall of Fabio Viera from his loan at Porto has been reported, but I'm going to suggest the fans call for another signing in the form of either Cunha or an Emirates return for Bayern Munich's Serge Gnabry.
Cunha has been in fine form this league campaign, managing 10 goals and four assists for a struggling Wolves side. But, having signed for £44 million, it is believed an offer in excess of £60 million would be required to obtain the Brazilian's services - a hefty price tag.
So, a more cost-effective option could see Gnabry return temporarily as the German international struggles for minutes under Vicent Kompany - managing three goals in 12 Bundesliga outings.
As mentioned, either one of these attacking options would also join Zubimendi as Stan Kroenke grants all of head coach Arteta's wishes this month.
What would a starting XI look like?In this highly unlikely parallel universe, Arteta could potentially host champions Manchester City on February 2 with the following line-up:
Raya - Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori, - Rice, Zubimendi, Odegaard - Martinelli, Sesko , Cunha/Gnabry
