There have been many producers and directors in Bollywood who have given many films. Subhash Ghai has also been one such name in Hindi cinema. Very few people know that Ghai started his career in Bollywood as an actor. First he did small roles in films like Aradhana and Takdeer, after that he played big and important roles in films like Umang and Gumrah. Ghai was one of the most brilliant makers of Hindi cinema in the 80's and 90's.

Today is Subhash Ghai's 79th birthday. One of the many specialties of Ghai is that he himself has made a cameo in almost every film of his. Ghai was one of the three winners of the talent hunt in the 70's. The remaining two people were Rajesh Khanna and Dheeraj Kumar. Born on 24 January 1956 in Nagpur, Maharashtra, Subhash Ghai's father was a dentist in Delhi. Ghai did his graduation in commerce from Rohtak, Haryana. Apart from this, he also graduated in cinema from the Indian Film and Television Institute, Pune. Ghai had told in an interview given to Rajya Sabha TV that after passing from FTII, he came to Bombay, but he was not allowed to enter any studio because he was an outsider. After this he read books like Dale Carnegie's 'How to Win Friends and Influence' which helped him a lot. After this he learned about the United Producers Filmfare Talent Contest and out of 5,000 participants, three people were selected in it which were Ghai, Rajesh Khanna and Dheeraj Kumar.

'Cameo lover' director Subhash

In 1976, Subhash got his first film as a director. Shatrughan Sinha helped him for this film. The name of the film was Kalicharan. As of 2016, he has written and directed a total of 16 films. He has directed films like Vishwanath, Gautam Govinda, Karz, Krodhi, Hero, Vidhaata, Karma, Ram Lakhan, Saudagar, Khalnayak, Yaadein, Yuvraj, Black and White, Kanchi. He also produces films and is also a writer of many films.

You can call Subhash Ghai a 'cameo lover', because he used to do a cameo in one or the other scene of almost every film. Be it the I Love My India song from 'Pardes' or the role of a common man behind Meenakshi Sheshadri in Hero. Subhash loves doing this in his films. This shows his love for cinema.
