The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued new rules regarding the validity of SIM cards.
The new rules will help customers avoid frequent recharges and reduce expenses. If there is no recharge on your number for 90 days and there is a prepaid balance of Rs 20 left in it, then the company will deduct Rs 20 and give additional validity of 30 days. In this way, your number can remain active for 120 days without recharge.
Jio: The SIM card will remain active for 90 days without recharge. During this time, the facility of incoming calls can be for one month, one week, or a few days depending on the last recharge plan.
Airtel: SIM cards will remain active for more than 90 days without recharge. After this, you will get 15 days to reactivate the number. If you do not recharge even after this, the SIM card will be closed.
Vodafone-Idea: You can use the SIM card for 90 days without recharge. After this, you will have to recharge for a minimum of Rs 49. BSNL: BSNL SIM card will remain active for 180 days without any recharge.
