Toby Collyer has revealed that he believes that 's tactical approach is a perfect fit for his style of play as he aims to secure more minutes on the pitch for during the latter part of the season.

The 21-year-old midfielder recently made his second start for United, and his first in European competition, in the team's 2-1 victory over Rangers on Thursday evening.

Collyer's impressive performance did not go unnoticed, with club captain and ex-United star Rio Ferdinand singing the youngster's praise.

Despite an initial hiccup where he lost possession in midfield leading to Nicolas Raskin's significant early opportunity, Collyer found his rhythm in the game and contributed to United's first goal, pressuring Rangers' keeper Jack Butland into an own goal.

The ex-Brighton talent described his first European start as an "unbelievable feeling" and is eager for further opportunities, having previously been tipped to leave the club on loan - though reports that the playmaker is set to remain with the Red Devils.

Speaking after his first European start, Collyer said: "These are the nights you dream of as a kid, to make my first start in the competition and get the win is the most important thing.

After sustaining an injury upon Amorim's appointment in November, Collyer has since appeared in United's last four matches.

Although the squad is still adjusting to Amorim's 3-4-3 formation, with just three wins in 11 Premier League games under the Portuguese coach, Collyer remains positive. When asked about Amorim's guidance, Collyer shared: "Just things to improve on, things to help me with his system and I think it's really helped me.

"Since coming back from the injury I needed to get fully confident when I was back and get up to speed, now I'm making steps with the system and I'm excited to make more steps."

He also praised the current tactics being employed, saying: "I think (the system) has been good, I think it suits every player, gives every player options on the pitch and out of possession it helps everyone. I think it's a really good system.

"(Amorim) demands a lot from everyone which is really good. It means we can improve as a team and as individual as well. We haven't had many training sessions but the more we get the better we get on the pitch."
