The treasure was found during the excavation of the Satsang Bhavan in the courtyard of the very ancient Shri Ram Janaki temple in Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh. During the digging of the foundation, the sound of the soil bursting as soon as the shovel hit it was heard. When seen, the silver coins were scattered. The incident of finding coins from the foundation in the temple premises has spread like wildfire in the entire town. The Mahant of the temple and the laborers doing the digging have shown honesty and handed over a piggy bank full of silver coins to the police for further action. The police station chief said that the coins have been recovered and preserved and further action is being taken.
The very ancient Shri Ram Janaki temple is situated in the town falling under Baghauli police station area of Hardoi district. Being a very ancient temple, the courtyard of the temple has become quite dilapidated. The raw walls have taken the shape of ruins. Mahant Baba Chandra Prakash Das of Shri Ram Janaki Temple said that keeping in mind the convenience of the devotees and the people visiting there, he is constructing a Satsang Bhawan on the land of the temple trust. Meanwhile, due to the shovel falling on the soil during digging, the coins scattered everywhere with a thumping sound. When the soil was removed, it was discovered that treasure had come out of the ground.
Eyewitness worker Chanda Pasi, who was digging with a shovel for construction on the temple land, said that during the excavation, 191 ancient silver coins were found from inside the earthen piggy bank. Which have been handed over to the Mahant of the temple. On the other hand, Mahant Chandra Prakash Das of the temple said that to avoid any kind of incidents, these coins have been handed over to the police. 105 year old ascetic saint Pandit Rajaram told that these coins are the trust of the temple. Till long ago, coins were given as donations in the temple after the wishes were fulfilled. Which were preserved underground in this manner to protect them from thieves. Those who have now come out of the ground, God's play is also behind them.
Hardoi's Baghauli Police Station President Prem Sagar Singh said that during the excavation of the foundation in the premises of Shri Ram Janaki Temple located in the town, 191 shining silver coins were recovered from the ground. Which has been handed over to the police by the Mahant of the temple. The police are preserving the coins and taking necessary legal action in the entire matter.
