Abhishek Kapoor’s directorial venture Azaad, starring Ajay Devgn, Rasha Thadani, Aaman Devgan, and Diana Penty has managed to collect only Rs 6.92 crore at the end of 8 days.
Despite its gripping storyline and noteworthy performances, the film struggled to make a significant impact, especially against fierce competition. On its seventh day, Azaad earned approximately Rs 42 lakh, marking a consistent decline in daily collections, states a report on sacnilk.com. The film, which had an overall 6.29% Hindi occupancy on Thursday, has seen diminishing numbers since its release on December 17. Opening with a Rs 1.5 crore debut, Azaad managed to collect Rs 1.3 crore on its second day and Rs 1.75 crore on Sunday, bringing its first weekend total to Rs 4.55 crore.
However, its performance faltered during the weekdays, earning Rs 65 lakh on Monday, Rs 60 lakh on Tuesday, Rs 55 lakh on Wednesday, and Rs 42 lakh on Thursday. On Friday, the movie earned a meagre of 11 lakh, taking its total collection to 6.92 crore.
The film has faced stiff competition from high-profile releases like Emergency and the record-breaking Pushpa 2: The Rule, which recently celebrated 50 days in theatres. With new releases such as Sky Force and Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama hitting cinemas this weekend, Azaad is likely to face further challenges in maintaining its box office momentum.
