Meet singer who sang over 15,000 songs, became famous with one song, was more popular than Lata Mangeshkar in South, not Asha Bhosle

Lata Mangeshkar the legendary late singer is considered the greatest female vocalist in the Indian film industry. Honoured with the Bharat Ratna Lata Ji has become an iconic figure and a treasure of Indias musical heritage. After her many female singers emerged in the Indian film industry earning immense fame. In the 80s and 90s singers like Kavita Krishnamurthy Alka Yagnik Anuradha Paudwal and Sadhana Sargam became the leading voices of the industry with their songs still widely listened to on platforms like YouTube. At one time the pairing of Udit Narayan with Alka Yagnik and Kumar Sanu with Sadhana Sargam entertained audiences with their soulful tunes. While these singers are still remembered Sadhana Sargam who was also a prominent voice in South Indian cinema has largely faded from the limelight. The Rise of Sadhana Sargam Sadhana Sargam was once more popular than Lata and Asha Bhosle in South Indian cinema. The 55-year-old singer is still adored by fans who yearn to hear her voice today. Born in Dabhol Maharashtra Sadhana Sargam has sung songs in Hindi Marathi Bengali Nepali and Tamil. She has received numerous accolades for her vocal talent including a National Film Award Filmfare South Awards five Maharashtra State Film Awards four Gujarat State Film Awards and one Odisha State Film Award. A Career in Song Sadhana Sargam inherited her musical talent from her mother Neela Ghanekar a classical singer. She began her career at a young age first performing as a chorus singer in the song Pam Paaarampam Bole Jeevan Ki Sargam from the film Trishna (1978) alongside Kishore Kumar. At just six years old she also recorded the song Ek Anek Aur Ekta for Doordarshan. In 1982 Sadhana made her singing debut in Subhash Ghais Vidhaata with the song Saat Saheliyan which was composed by Kalyanji-Anandji. The song featured the voices of Kishore Kumar and Alka Yagnik as well. Throughout her illustrious career Sadhana has sung over 15000 songs in 36 languages leaving an indelible mark in the world of music. One of her most memorable songs is the chartbuster Saat Samandar Par Main Tere... from the movie Vishwatma. Despite her absence from the industry today Sadhana Sargams contributions to the world of music remain cherished by fans worldwide.
