New Delhi: Indias all-rounder Nitesh Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the remaining T20I matches against England due to an injury just hours before the second game in Chennai. Reddy participated in the first match of the series in Kolkata earlier this week but did not have the opportunity to bowl or bat. Additionally he was part of Indias team for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia where he played in all five Tests as the team lost the series 1-2.
Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra discussed Reddys workload suggesting that his body may not have been prepared for the demands of international cricket.
Nitish Kumar Reddy is injured. He has been ruled out of the entire series. You must be thinking What wouldve happened? I am wondering how this would have happened. When you start playing international cricket the workload is different Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
Chopra pointed out that Reddy participated in all five Tests against Australia suggesting that this could be a reason for his potential injury.
Workload and pressure go hand in hand. He played 5 Tests in Australia. He performed there. He was on the ground consistently. He batted and even bowled a little. It takes a toll. Believe it or not he is a young kid. The body sometimes doesnt last that long he added.
Suddenly you realise there is an injury. I think something has happened. Maybe the body wasnt ready for this type of workload and pressure and he broke down. Shivam Dube has been called into the squad in place of Nitish Kumar Reddy Chopra explained.
India is currently ahead of England 2-0 in the series and has the opportunity to clinch the series in Rajkot during the 3rd T20I match on Tuesday.
