Bungie is tying up the Light and Darkness saga with Episode Heresy ahead of the next expansion, and there's plenty to look forward to before we close the book on the decade-long narrative.
Heresy Act 1 is the first act of the final episode in the Light and Darkness saga which started with the release of the original back in 2014. But before we head into the brand new expansion – Codename Apollo – which lands this summer, we've got three acts worth of content to wade through first, including a crossover and , Sundered Doctrine, that kicks off at the start of February along with the new episode.
is reviving the weekly content and story delivery to give players a reason to keep logging in, and is sweeting the somewhat contentious decision with a weekly Seasonal Challenge that'll reward players with a new tier of seasonal weapon for their troubles, which are part of the Heretical Arsenal.
Another shake up coming with Destiny 2 Heresy Act 1 is the act length; they won't be fixed like past episodes. The example Bungie gives in its is Destiny 2 Heresy Act 2 which the developer reveals will last three weeks as opposed to the standard five or six. Sticking with the theme of drip-feeding content, it adds that all reprised weapons will be available at launch, with the second half of Episodic Weapons coming with the release of Act 2.
There's also a ton of buffs, nerfs, and reworks on the way with Destiny 2 Heresy Act 1, as well as new weapons – and inevitably, that means we're waving goodbye to others to make room for them; Undercurrent and The Prophet Adept versions will no longer be available after Tuesday, February 4 and they won't drop from activities, so get them while you can.
In terms of the narrative, the Dreadnaught is back, which will also host a new activity, The Nether, which sees players collecting boons (minor, major, and corrupted) that directly affect gameplay. As for the Star Wars crossover, players can pick up themed cosmetics including armour sets inspired by the Elite Death Troopers for Hunters, Praetorian Guard for Warlocks, and the classic Stormtrooper for Titans. All of the Star Wars cosmetics will drop alongside the Destiny 2 Heresy Act 1 release on Tuesday, February 4.
On that note, here's the exact Destiny 2 Heresy Act 1 release date and time in your region.
