Former Indian cricket team veteran Harbhajan Singh has advised Virat Kohli to enjoy cricket. He believes that there are always expectations from big players like Kohli, due to which they are unable to enjoy the game.
Virat Kohli is playing a Ranji Trophy match after 13 years and his landing on the grounds at Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium thronged a huge crowd. Gautam Gambhir Stand was completely packed, after which the lower part of the Bishan Singh Bedi Stadium was also filled with the audience. More than 12,000 people were present in the stadium at the time of the toss, who were eager to see Kohli playing.
However, this wish of the audience was not immediately fulfilled as Delhi won the toss and chose the bowling first. But Kohli was enough only for the fans to be present on the field. He was fielding in the second slip, and the audience was applauding at each of his movements. Not only this, in the 12th over, an enthusiastic fan broke the security cordon and reached to touch his feet, which was later taken out of the field by security personnel.
Harbhajan Singh said on his YouTube channel:
“Virat Kohli is a role model. Young players follow them. Whether or not he will score is a different matter, but if I had been in his place, I would enjoy cricket. “
he adds:
“When you reach the level of Virat, the pressure and expectations increase and the game is left behind. I want him to enjoy cricket completely and teach the youth how Virat Kohli is made. “
This advice of Harbhajan Singh has come at a time when it has been a long time since Kohli scored a big score in international cricket. As such, his performance and mentality in the Ranji Trophy can greatly influence his upcoming cricket journey.
