‘Plans is to create 3 crore Lakhpati Didis…’ says President Droupadi Murmu ahead of Economic Survey 2024-25

President Murmu highlighted the Lakpati Didi Scheme which seeks to empower women and position them as key drivers of economic growth. She revealed that the government plans to create three crore Lakpati Didis underlining its commitment to women-led development.
Health Insurance for Senior Citizens
The President announced a significant expansion of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme which aims to provide health insurance to six crore senior citizens aged 70 years and above. This step is expected to enhance healthcare access for the elderly and ensure their well-being.
Advancing Innovation with India AI Mission
Focusing on technology President Murmu announced the launch of the India AI Mission designed to strengthen Indias contributions in the field of artificial intelligence. She emphasized the government’s ambition to position India as a global innovation powerhouse in emerging technologies.
Progress in Space Exploration
The President lauded advancements in the space industry and shared her optimism about India’s upcoming human spaceflight mission Gaganyaan. She remarked “That day is not far when India will launch its own human space flight Gaganyaan.”
Education and Employment for Youth
President Murmu reiterated the government’s commitment to the youth emphasizing the importance of education and the creation of new employment opportunities. These initiatives aim to prepare young Indians for a rapidly evolving global economy.
Major Policy Decisions
She also acknowledged key decisions taken by the government including reforms in Waqf boards and the introduction of the One Nation One Election policy aimed at enhancing governance and electoral efficiency.
Tributes And Condolences
The President paid homage to all those who lost their lives during the tragic stampede at the Mahakumbh festival and honored the memory of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh who passed away in December.

Economic Survey 2024-25
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to table the Economic Survey 2024-25 in Parliament on Friday afternoon providing key insights into the countrys economic performance and shaping expectations for the upcoming Union Budget. Ahead of the presentation Sitharaman left her residence and is en route to Parliament.
As is the convention Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will table the pre-budget detailed state of the economy document in the Parliament a day ahead of the Budget presentation for the next financial year - 2025-26.
Economic Survey will be tabled in Lok Sabha at 12 noon and at 2 PM in Rajya Sabha.
