Virat’s clean bowling for only 6 runs off Sangwan on Friday left the huge audience at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium in disbelief.

With Virat poised to bat in the middle, the second day of the match was always expected to be a memorable one. On the first day, a record number of spectators flocked to the renowned location to see the star batter in action as Delhi chose to bowl first after winning the toss.

Before Sangwan sent his stumps out for a stroll, Virat played 15 deliveries in the middle and hit an incredible boundary right down the ground.

Who is Himanshu Sangwan, a fast bowler for the Railways?
Himanshu Sangwan, 29, is from Delhi and was born in Najafgarh in 1995. Prior to making his senior team debut for Railways in the 2019–20 season, he played for the Delhi U19 squad.

In domestic cricket, he has so far participated in 23 first-class, 17 List A, and 7 T20 matches, taking 77, 21, and 5 wickets in each format.

Having last played in white-ball forms in December 2023, he is primarily playing red-ball cricket for Railways this season.

Sangwan has already taken 16 wickets in the current Ranji Trophy season.

Prior to this, Sangwan worked as a ticket collector and was assigned to the New Delhi station. The right-handed bowler often takes significant wickets. In his first season against Mumbai, he had also removed players like Prithvi Shaw and Ajinkya Rahana.

Early in his career, Sangwan worked at the MRF Pace Foundation, and he attributed his success to Australia’s Glenn McGrath at the time. Glenn McGrath, the great of Australia, is an inspiration to me. I look up to him. During my time at the MRF Pace Foundation, McGrath taught me a lot. In March of 2019, I spent a brief camp there. After seeing my recordings, he would point out places for improvement. In the game, he is a legend. “Go to the basics when you’re in trouble,” Sangwan had advised me.

Regarding the current game, Railways was bowled out in 67.4 overs on Thursday after scoring 241 runs in their first innings. Delhi, the hosts, finished the first day with 41/1.

On the second day, Yash Dhull and Sanat Sangwan continued their partnership for the second wicket and contributed a few more vital runs to the total as they resumed their first innings.

As Virat reached the crease with the bat for Delhi for the first time since 2012, Rahul Sharma broke the partnership by trapping Dhull in front and dismissed him for 32 runs, giving the spectators a moment they had been waiting for since the start of the match.
